Good to know

Images that get shared

  • Portrait for feeds

A 1080 × 1350 image takes the most room in Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn feeds.

  • Story size for Stories

1080 × 1920 fills the screen. Keep the card in the middle, away from the top and bottom.

  • Contrast with the background

A dark card on a light background, or the other way round, keeps the post the first thing people see.

  • PNG for text

PNG keeps text sharp. JPG makes smaller files when the image is mostly a photo.

Mastodon Post to Image FAQ

Questions, answered.

Should I include my server in the handle?

Yes: [email protected] tells people where to find you.

Can I paste a link to the post?

Yes, from any server, for public posts. The name, handle, picture, text, attached image and numbers come in from the server.

Is it free?

Yes, with no sign-up and no watermark.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Pictures and screenshots are read and drawn in your browser, and never leave your device.

Can I make a post look like someone else wrote it?

Please don’t. It’s meant for your own posts and posts you have permission to share. Passing off made-up posts as someone else’s misleads people and breaks every network’s rules.
